Cool. Have you been to the Highline in NY? I imagine you’d find that interesting. Under one of the spots where it cuts through a building an artist did an installation of stained glass panels in various shades of greens and grays: they are based on photos he took of the Hudson at different times of day. You should check it out next time you’re in town.

Beautiful photos ! Surf looks very much like Brigantine !
Thanks, Alan. You know, I have not been to Highline. The past few times I’ve been in NY I’ve had other priorities and no time. I’ll make a point of checking it out next time- I’d love to see the installation. I’ve been wanting to do a series of paintings based on these fog studies, so these are kind of like field research, but I also like them on their own..

I’ve seen that installation on the highline. It’s beautiful, and I hope you do get to check it out soon.
You might also check out the work of Hiroshi Sugimoto, a photographer who also has an eye for ocean horizons.
Hey George- Thanks for the link. I love his work but have not seen this series.
Do you know the name of the artist who did the installation at Highline? Ene and I recently were awarded a commission for the new public library in West Berkeley and we proposed a series of interior installations in etched, spectral glass. It’d be great to see the work at Highline, hopefully in person, before we get into final design..
Thanks!

Meg tells me the Highline’s by a firm called Field Operations, headed by Jim Corner. And congrats on the Berkeley commission!
Oh, I spaced. You were asking about the artist who did the glass installation, not the overall design. That I don’t know.

Spencer Finch. Got it. Thanks for digging into it, George!
